Top Ten Tuesday (#13): Top Ten Favorite Kick-Ass Heroines

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted at The Broke and The Bookish where they post a list idea and everyone is welcome to post the list with their own answers. This week’s theme is “Top Ten Favorite Kick-Ass Heroines“.

1. Elena – Bitten (Women of the Otherworld #1)
The only female werewolf, Elena is a sharp and cunning journalist living in Canada who refuses to become the ‘trophy’ for the males.

2. Althea Vestrit – The Liveship Traders – Probably my favourite on the list!
When her beloved family liveship is lost to her, Althea works her way to try and get it back. Mouthy and stubborn, Althea refuses to stay home and be courted as tradition dictates, and instead puts hard work and cunning into getting herself a ship!

3. Yelena – Poison Study (Study Trilogy #1)

4. Liselle – The Mallorean – Second favourite heroine.
Liselle isn’t the main character, but she is definitely kick-ass. An impressive spy who uses her innocent looks to fool her way into people’s trust, Liselle is cunning, witty and a good fighter. She’s also not afraid to go for what she wants – even if he might happen to be the world’s most notorious bachelor!

5. Katniss – The Hunger Games

6. Hermione Granger – Harry Potter

7. Lisbeth – Millennium Trilogy

8. Brienne – A Game of Thrones

9. Arya Stark – A Game of Thrones

While I CAN think of filler names for slot 10, I can’t think of any heroines that really reached out and grabbed me in the way these did, so I’m going to leave it at that!

  1. Nice choice with Liselle! Looking at everyone else’s lists, it’s interesting just how many female heroines are coming from children’s and YA lit and fantasy literature. I wonder if it’s a sign of changing times?

  2. Really great list, I love Kelley Armstrong and I’m VERY eager to get into her Women of the Underworld series. Poison Study is also on my reading list and so is The Millenium Trilogy and A Song of Fire & Ice πŸ™‚ Loved seeing Hermoine & Katniss on there, as they also made my TTT New follower via Twitter!

  3. Definitely, Brienne and Arya from Game of Thrones! Hermione and Katniss seem to be popular choices– totally agree. Lisbeth is another great heroine, though I’ve yet to finish the Millennium Trilogy at this point. Great list.
