Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted at The Broke and The Bookish where they post a list idea and everyone is welcome to post the list with their own answers. This week the theme is Top Ten 2014 Debuts I’m Excited For.

Alienated
This is the debut I chose as being most excited for in The 2013 End of Year Book Survey. It has aliens, a romance (no hints to a love triangle in the blurb!), a witch-hunt, blogging and a mystery. With hooks like that it was always going to draw me in!
Aliens | Romance| Blogging
The Merciless
I’m a total wimp when it comes to scary books (and my fear of horror movies is so extreme I even avoid the covers), BUT The Merciless sounds so good I’m just going to have to try and face my fears!
Teeanage girls | Possession | Exorcism
Burn Out
I absolutely loved taking part in sci-fi month, and it sent me on a bit of a sci-fi binge! I’m really hoping to keep expanding my sci-fi horizons next year, and I’m excited to find a new YA sci-fi author.
Dystopian | Ethical dilemma | Kickass heroine
Landry Park
After seeing Landry park described as a ‘nuclear Gone with the wind’ I was too curious NOT to add it to my TBR list! I love the idea of the Victorian-esque setting despite the fact it’s set in the future, and I’m really curious to see how that developed.
Dystopia | Historical feel in a future world
Nil
Yet another dystopian with a blurb I just couldn’t resist!
“On the mysterious island of Nil, the rules are set. You have one year. Exactly 365 days–to escape, or you die.”
Amnesia | Survival | Romance
I’m a little nervous about Somebody Up There Hates You because everyone adored The Fault in Our Stars and while I liked it, I didn’t love it. I love the voice in the blurb though, and I’m so intrigued by the characters, so I’m curious and cautiously optimistic!
Cancer | Contemporary | Romance
Banished
Described on panmacmillan’s website as “Part Brothers Grimm, part Buffy with a dash of Cassandra Clare,” I was never going to be able to resist Banished. I don’t usually read very much urban fantasy, but I’m excited about this one.
Urban Fantasy | Faerie | Romance
Dear Killer has really mixed reviews on goodreads right now, but I think I’m just too curious to resist reading it! A killer as the main character? In a YA book WITHOUT ROMANCE? This is too unique for me to pass up.
Murder | Mystery | Thriller
Prisone
r of Night and Fog
This sounds amazing. Gretchen has grown up the darling of her family, and her uncle – Adolf Hitler. When forced to face some uncomfortable truths, Gretchen must decide whether her loyalties truly lie with the family she’s always known and loved.
Historical fiction | Nazi Germany
Beware the Wild (no cover image yet)
A second creepy-ish sounding title for the self-professed wimp. The swamp in the centre of the village has always been creepy, but when Sterling’s brother goes missing in it, things become even more disturbing. Months later a girl appears from the swamp determined to take over Sterling’s brother’s life. Most disturbing of all? No one except Sterling seems to even remember her brother existed…
Southern Gothic | Thriller | Fantasy | Mystery
Ooh, I haven’t heard about The Merciless before, but it sounds amazing! Books don’t scare me easily, so I hope this one will be really creepy 😀 I’m very excited about Landry Park, Nil and Banished! Dear Killer sounds amazing but after reading some reviews I’m not that sure anymore.. Nice list!
Lanaia @ The Temporary Escape
Ah, see I’m a total wimp, but the plot of The Merciless sounds too good to resist!
Yeah I thought Dear Killer sounded really exciting and unusual but the reviews are pretty mixed…still curious enough to give it a go though!
I haven’t looked at 2014 debuts yet, but this list shows that I should! Alienated, Nil and Banished sound (and look) amazing. Can’t wait to see what this year will bring bookwise (:
There are some absolutely great looking ones coming out – I struggled to pick my top ten! Browsing them isn’t that good for the TBR pile though, or my attempt to buy less books!
Oooh, you’ve got some brilliant books on your list! I definitely like the look of Prisoner of Night and Fog. I’ll have to add that to my TBR right away.
Although I don’t read a lot of historical fiction, I’ve really enjoyed a few and I was too curious about Prisoner of Night and Fog to leave it off my list!
Today’s lists have been fatal for my TBR list – hope yours doesn’t get too out of control too 😉
oooh Landry Park sounds cool! I’m adding that to my TBR for sure. Beware the Wild sounds really cool and creepy. I’m a little iffy about Alienated. I’ll wait and see everyone’s reviews before I go and get it.
Great list! I’m so excited for so many of these and a few made my list too. I read and absolutely loved Alienated, I am really excited to get my hands on the finished hardback. There seems to be so many good books coming out in 2014, I’m not sure where I’ll find the time to read them all. I hope you get to all of your picks 🙂 My TTT.
The Merciless sounds creepy! You’ve got a few on here I’d never heard of. Thanks for making me add more books to my tbr list.
