Review copy cleanup 4.0: Week 1

My original goals were to get through at least three review copies throughout February, and to make sure at least two-thirds of the books I read in February were from my review pile.

I’m doing okay so far, with two books read this week, both from my review pile.  My other half was down for the weekend which meant I had slightly less reading time.  This week I’m hoping to throw myself into reading and blogging to try and distract myself from the fact we have a long gap between visits this time 🙁 Sad for me, but hopefully at least good for my reading and blogging.

I started Grim right at the end of January, but I found it quite difficult to get engrossed in.  I’m not a huge fan of short stories, but I loved the idea of this anthology, so I stuck with it.  Although I found it quite easy to put this down between each story, I did enjoy a lot of the individual stories.  Once I’ve mulled it over a little more I’ll get my review up and scheduled nearer the release date.

I’ve had The Martian on my TBR list for a while, but I’d been putting it off until nearer it’s release this week.  I wasn’t sure what to expect when I finally startedThe Martian, but I ended up absolutely loving it.  I reviewed it yesterday, giving it 5 stars!

Sign-ups for the Review Copy Clean up are open until the 15th of February, so if you need an excuse to work on your review pile, go join in!

Plans for week 2:

I’m currently reading This Book will Make You Calm, which isn’t a review copy but a library book.  I’ll be starting Daughter of Smoke and Bone either this week or next, as that’s the book from my shelves that received the most votes from you guys!

In terms of review copies, I’m hoping to get started and make a large dent in Sea of Shadows.  I may also start Echo Boy depending on how my week goes, just because I’m so excited about it!
