One of my favourite challenges to take part in during 2012 and 2013 was The Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge, which was hosted by Reading with Tequila but seems to have since disappeared.
In case you don’t know, the challenge was simple: book bloggers nominated their favourite books, and then a list was made, with books nominated the most often at the top. To take part in the challenge, you picked a level and read a specified number of recommended books from the list.
I think it’s a really great challenge, because you get to discover books other bloggers loved and share your own favourites (and isn’t that kind of the point of book blogging?). I put out a call for book recommendations, and have had some great feedback already, so I’m going to try hosting it for 2015. I’m still putting the list together but there will be at least 100 titles to choose from – if I’m a few short, I’ll be using people’s end of the year favourites lists or something to make sure we hit that.
The rules are crazy simple:
- The challenge runs from January 1st 2014 to December 31st 2015
- There are five levels to choose from. You can increase your goal as many times as you want, or (because we all know real life happens!) you can decrease your goal once at any point throughout the year.
- You don’t have to commit in advance to your choices, though of course you can plan them if you want to.
The Full List of Books can be found here!
Thanks to Sarah there’s also a goodreads list of the top 105 here!
Is there a giveaway?
There will definitely be a giveaway at the end of the year. I haven’t figured out the details of that yet but I’ll let you know!
This sounds like a great challenge. I will be sure to sign up in 2015. My sign up post will not go live until January.

I’m not really a book blogger (altho I do track all the books I read on my blog) but I’d love to do this! 🙂 I’ll sign up to silver I think (altho I can imagine I’ll probably end up reading a lot more of them! 🙂 )
Looking forward to it!

I don’t tend to do reading challenges but I really like the idea of this one Faith! I’m hoping I’ll have time to whip up a post and rec form before the new year because I think I’d like to participate here! Definitely bookmarking your post so I can have it as a reference point!! Good luck with the challenge in the new year 😀 xx

Yes Micheline! You should definitely join us 😉
This sounds like a fun challenge. I think I will go for the silver level as a starting point. 😀
Great, we’re happy to have you! I’m starting at the silver level too, (though hoping to increase if possible)
I’m very sorry, but I accidentally deleted my original challenge post. I just added the new post link, but I can’t delete the old one. The correct link ends in “book blogger recommendation.” The incorrect link ends in “reading challenges.”
No problem, it happens 🙂 I’m going to go through the linky and add everyone’s links to the post in a week or so anyways as the linky will close then.
I’m signing up for the Platinum Challenge! I’ll try to link up my blog post with even more great lists of books to choose from. Thanks for hosting this!!

Great, I’m glad to have you joining us!
I know i’m like 3 months behind but i wold love to join if that’s still possible. Even if its not i’m still going to act as if i’m a part of it because i love this idea!
Sure, no problem at all 🙂 Sign ups are pretty much open whenever.
I have only just come across your challenge so I hope that it isn’t too late in the year to be able to sign up. This is an interesting challenge as a way of getting some books crossed off my TBR list that I have seen regularly recommended lately.
Here is my sign up post…..
