- Review: Firefight (Brandon Sanderson)
Seriously Wicked is a review copy from Tor which I’m currently reserving judgement on. I’m not sure it sounds very me, but I really liked Tina Connolly’s Ironskin series so we’ll have to wait and see. I also picked up The Raven Boys and Half a King because they were very cheap on Kindle and I’ve heard great things about both.
Total spend: £2.98
This week has been the usual Monday-Friday dissertation work, so nothing fun to report there! Reading wise, I finished Invasion of the Tearling and then started The Rain which I finished in a couple of days. I also finally came to terms with the fact that King of Thorns just wasn’t working for me – at least at the moment. Since starting it in April I’m barely even a quarter of the way through, and I just find myself completely unmotivated to pick it up. For now, I’ve taken it off my currently reading shelf – I may come back to it, but it may just be that the series isn’t for me, despite the fact I adored Mark Lawrence’s Prince of Fools. Instead, I’ve started Our Zoo, which is just what I need at the moment I think!
In terms of what else I’ve been up to, we finally finished Smallville, we had a family BBQ Friday night, and last night we had a lot of junk food and had a bit of a Eurovision party! Next week I have a chaotic week (in a good way), so I’ll be working frantically Monday and Tuesday before some fun for the rest of the week, including my sister’s birthday, a trip to see Wicked and hopefully a zoo visit. You may remember that last year my sister’s birthday involved me making a TARDIS cake – this year it’s a piano. Wish me luck!
Finished: The Invasion of the Tearling (Review copy), The Rain (TBR)
