Fandom Mashups is a great new feature hosted by Micheline. Every week, a unique fictional scenario is proposed, and everyone then builds their personal dream team of five fictional characters from five different fandoms to complete the task! Anyone is welcome to join in, just make sure to link back to Lunar Rainbows.
This week: You’re going on a shopping spree! Win. Who do you want to go splurging with?
Okay, I found this week really hard, but I think I’ve finally got five half decent suggestions…
1. Roarke from J.D.Robb’s In Death series
This is a series that I tend to pick up pretty infrequently, but I would love to go shopping with the ridiculously charming, well-dressed, insanely rich Roarke. The man has style, so he could definitely pick out what would look good (which would be great, because I suck at that kind of thing) but he’s also charming – while I can’t imagine he’d let you buy something unflattering, he’d also find a tactful way to tell you it’s not right, rather than telling you that dress made you look like a whale or something.
2. Emma Swan
Emma Swan is a girl after my own heart – she loves coloured leather jackets, skinny jeans and knee high boots, which would pretty much be my uniform if I had the budget and the ability to actually find knee high boots that were half decent (seriously, it shouldn’t be possible to suck so much at boot shopping, but somehow, I do). Case in point – I have (faux) leather jackets in navy, burgundry, red, cream, brown and black so far… Top of my wishlist is an emerald green one, an idea that sets my Slytherin heart fluttering. Anyway, back to Emma – a style I like, that’s also practical and comfortable – I’m so in. [And I’d kill for a pair of those knee high lace up boots she has]
3. Vanessa Abrams (Gossip Girl)
I started watching Gossip Girl on a whim one day and spent a lot of time admiring the clothes. While I love the different styles that Georgina, Blair and Serena have going on, the fact is I’m not built like any of them, and I’m also WAY too lazy to wear high heels and make up every day – Vanessa has a more laid back style, with a love of skinny jeans, patterns and interesting jackets. She’s definitely bolder than I am in her dress sense but maybe taking some inspiration from her would be a good thing!
4. Celaena Sardothien
Celaena is a must for a shopping spree – she’s got style, she loves to shop, and I can guarantee she could terrify any less-than-helpful sales assistants! I think she could also stop the shopping spree descending TOO far into comfy and practical – she wouldn’t let us buy anything that wasn’t also gorgeous.
5. Alice Cullen
Again, Alice could help balance out my desire for all things comfy and casual – there’s no way she’d let me purchase JUST a uniform of knee high boots, skinny jeans, geeky tees and leather jackets (a genuine concern). You just know she’d be able to pull out something you’d never think to pick up, but that somehow looks awesome on, and that’s the kind of helper I want on my shopping spree!
