Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted at The Broke and The Bookish where they post a list idea and everyone is welcome to post the list with their own answers. This week is a freebie, and since last week we talked about finished series I have yet to finish, this week I thought I’d highlight series I have yet to start!
Finished Series
The Darkest Minds (Alexandra Bracken) – I like the sound of this one, and a friend keeps recommending it to me, but at the moment, there’s nothing unique-sounding enough to bump it to the top of my purchase pile, if that makes sense! One I’ll maybe ask for for Christmas, but if not, a library read I think, although I have been contemplating the audiobook.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Laini Taylor) – Usually, I read a book, and then I recommend it to my mum/sister/dad/friends/Matt etc. Daughter of Smoke and Bone has now sat, unread, on my shelves, for so long that my mum has now read it and keeps recommending the series to me!
Grisha (Leigh Bardugo) – I’ve heard so many great things about this one, but I don’t own it, and the library’s online catalogue doesn’t have it. Getting to the library is a bit of a nightmare at the minute, so this one’s either going to get put off until I can buy it/someone buys it for me, or until the nearer library is re-open.
Shattered Sea (Joe Abercrombie) – I’ve got the first book of the series on my kindle, but not yet got around to reading it. I think it’s suffering a little because at the minute, when I think of reading a big fantasy book, I’m more tempted by the Sanderson series below.
The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) – This is a recent addition to the TBR list, because it’s one of those series I sort of knew of but had never really given any thought to. I’d like to see what all the fuss is about, and it’s a long series I can binge or take my time with (both of which appeal depending on my mood at the time!)
Series that aren’t yet complete
Mistborn (Brandon Sanderson) – Ah Mistborn, where to even start… I reserved this at the library months ago, got there to discover the wrong book had been reserved. Re-reserved it, it never came in. Went to Waterstones to just give in and buy it, it wasn’t there…. And now I’m job-hunting, book buying isn’t exactly budget-friendly, so for now it remains on my wishlist. Definitely one I’ll be asking for at Christmas! [Though people don’t tend to buy me books so we’ll have to see]
The Stormlight Archive (Brandon Sanderson) – Honestly, I don’t really know where to start with Sanderson (I’ve so far only read Steelheart & Firefight) and this series sounds awesome too. Again, not one I own unfortunately.
The Dresden Files (Jim Butcher) – I actually have the first of these on audio, I just have to get around to actually listening to it! It’s read by James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) which is a definite point in it’s favour, though it’ll take some time to get used to his non-English accent.
The Raven Cycle (Maggie Stiefvater) – I’m always hesitant to mention this one in case Micheline kills me… I started this one but it had to go back to the library, and so I’ve been left a bit stranded, as I know some of what happens but don’t own the book!
A Court of Thorns and Roses (Sarah J. Maas) – This might sound weird, but I’m a little intimidated by A Court of Thorns and Roses. I adored Throne of Glass, and A Court of Thorns and Roses definitely does’t sound as appealing to me. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, but I don’t think I’ll love it. Again, another one I don’t own!
Great list! I want to read The Raven Boys and the Mistborn trilogy, too! 🙂

I still haven’t started a few of these either – the Maggie Stiefvater and Sarah J. Maas series in particular have been waiting in my TBR for a while. Great list!

hahahahaha @ that Raven Boys comment XD I would never kill you Faith, because then I’d miss you but if ever my budget permits it, I WILL buy you Mistborn, The Way of Kings AND The Raven Cycle and then gently bug you to read them ASAP ;D I also definitely recommend the DoS&B series and ACOTAR – even though it didn’t measure up to ToG for me – I still really liked it! BUT, like you, I have yet to read Darkest Minds, Grisha, Wheel of Time and the Dresden Files. Maybe when things settle down with the job hunt, we could eventually buddy read some of those? I have a feeling we could use the mutual support with something like The Wheel of Time series o.O LOL

I haven’t started the Raven Cycle books… I’m really curious about that series and the Scorpio Races because I really think I’d like them better than Stiefvater’s Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy… But at the same time I’m worried I won’t. (I didn’t hate the Wolves books, but I just didn’t love them as much as everyone else seemed to.)

I did this topic last week and The Darkest Minds was on my list then too. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is also one that I want to read. The Raven Cycle is really good, I hope you enjoy it, when you get the chance to read it. ACOTAR was my most recent read, I liked it, but I wasn’t as impressed as some people seem to have been.
