My TBR list is a meme hosted by Michelle at Because Reading which aims to help knock a few books off our TBR piles by letting everyone else vote on what we should read!
I missed last month because I was still catching up on February’s winner (Calamity on audio) and I really missed it in March, so I’m excited to be taking part again. This month I’ve picked three series starters from my endless list of series to start/catch up on!
** POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING: This month I’m featuring sequels (Calamity & Glass Sword), so the synopses for these potentially contain spoilers for earlier books. **
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without.
Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.
So, after much encouragement from Micheline and others, I finally gave in and read The Raven Boys – which I loved. I recently got Shiver through the ninja book swap, but I’m nervous about starting it because what if I don’t like it as much?!
Evie O’Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City—and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It’s 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult.
Evie worries he’ll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer.
As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfold in the city that never sleeps. A young man named Memphis is caught between two worlds. A chorus girl named Theta is running from her past. A student named Jericho hides a shocking secret. And unknown to all, something dark and evil has awakened.
I’ve had The Diviners on my shelf for absolutely ages but it’s never quite felt like the right moment to pick it up! I know people love the series though, so maybe it’s finally time?
Aza Ray is drowning in thin air.
Since she was a baby, Aza has suffered from a mysterious lung disease that makes it ever harder for her to breathe, to speak—to live.
So when Aza catches a glimpse of a ship in the sky, her family chalks it up to a cruel side effect of her medication. But Aza doesn’t think this is a hallucination. She can hear someone on the ship calling her name.
Only her best friend, Jason, listens. Jason, who’s always been there. Jason, for whom she might have more-than-friendly feelings. But before Aza can consider that thrilling idea, something goes terribly wrong. Aza is lost to our world—and found, by another. Magonia.
Above the clouds, in a land of trading ships, Aza is not the weak and dying thing she was. In Magonia, she can breathe for the first time. Better, she has immense power—and as she navigates her new life, she discovers that war is coming. Magonia and Earth are on the cusp of a reckoning. And in Aza’s hands lies the fate of the whole of humanity—including the boy who loves her. Where do her loyalties lie?
I got this one through the Ninja book swap too, but although I know a lot of people who wanted to read it, I’ve seen very few reviews from friends, so I have no idea what to expect from this one really!
Which book shall I read in January?
- Muse of Nightmares (Strange the Dreamer #2) (71%, 5 Votes)
- Hellbent (Orphan X #3) (14%, 1 Votes)
- Zero Day (Skitter #3) (14%, 1 Votes)
Total Voters: 7

I think I’ll vote for Maggie’s book because I love her! Although I’ve heard conflicting opinions about Shiver from people who have also loved The Raven Cycle books. I’m still interested in Shiver though.
Anyway, hope you enjoy what ends up winning.

I went with The Diviners cause I am curious what you will think of it. I kind of want to try it. 🙂
I went with Magonia. Really it was the cover that swayed me. I’m not a fan of Shiver though I know people really liked it.
Shiver since I read the first one and never went on, would love to see what you thought.
Hope you like whatever book reads.

I went with Shiver because I’ve loved the Raven Boys too, I also haven’t read any of her others yet, but definitely will! The Diviners looked great too!
I am going with Magonia to be the odd one from the voters, lol.
I voted for Shiver, because I really liked that series. I think she has a beautiful writing style.
Ooo! This is a hard one. I I want to pick all three! I haven’t read any of them, but I want to. Hmm. Okay, I picked one. I hope you enjoy whichever you read! (But really you should read them all. :-))
I voted for Shiver but I’m a little nervous about my vote myself! Even though I really enjoyed it when I read it recently, I know a lot of bloggers with similar tastes as me that didn’t feel the same way. I guess it boils down to if you think you can like a sort of typical PNR – but with Stiefvater’s gorgeous prose and knack for writing sympathetic characters LOL! I definitely still loved The Raven Cycle more than these but I still loved this series all the same. I hope you will too *crosses fingers*

These are all ones I have meant to read, but haven’t. I just put my name on the linky today, so if you could come vote on mine that would be great. I did things a little differently this month.
