So it has been a truly ridiculous amont of time since I updated (or let’s be honest, even looked at) this – over 18 months. Since then there has been all kinds of changes so I figure it’s time for an update!
18. Go to the theatre
We went to see Harry Potter & The Cursed Child in early 2018, and it was awesome. I will say though I think having read the screenplay before seeing the show was a mistake: working with books all day I didn’t dare put off reading it because I’d definitely have got spoilered at work, but I think my husband got more out of it by not knowing where the story was going.
22. Go to a spa
We actually ticked this off twice – we booked a cheap spa break Winter 2017 and then also had a massage on our honeymoon.
25. Get engaged & 26. Get married & 27. Open a joint account & 28. Buy a house
This is why my blogging mojo went out the window! We had a very busy year of doing some fun romantic things (wedding, honeymoon, house) and some responsible adulting things (budgeting, joint account).
39. Watch all 3 Lord of the Rings Films
We watched these over the winter when it was cold and miserable outside and we wanted to curl up with some popcorn.
62. Put a scratch map on the wall
Now that we’re in our own place this got moved up on the priority list! This was a nice easy one to tick off and I love daydreaming about where we’re going to scratch off (though it’ll probably be a while before we get to scratch off anywhere new after the expenses of 2018!)
63. Buy new bedding & 67. Put a photo of us up somewhere at home
We got vouchers as wedding presents so we spent some of them on photo frames and nice bedding.
68. Get a promotion or a new job
I got a promotion in my old job right at the beginning of 2018.
76. Make a decision about PhDs/teaching
In Autumn 2018 I bit the bullet and started my teacher training. It’s exhausting and the hardest thing I’ve ever done, with a crazy workload that takes me more hours than I seem to have right now but it has lots of good moments and it’ll be worth it in the end!
80. Get a tattoo
This was a birthday present to myself. I’d kept putting it off because I wanted to wait until I was at my ‘goal weight’ but I decided enough was enough – I’ve been struggling with my weight and I was fed up of putting life on hold!
87. Redesign the blog
That cute little porcupine/elephant/girl header have been around a while now but they were put in after the list started (and even though they aren’t new they make me happy everytime I see them).
84. Paint my nails at least once a month for a year
So as I’ve got less than a year left and haven’t thought about this one, I’m taking it off. I’ve replaced it with ‘Complete teacher training’. That might seem like an arbitrary goal, because if I’ve started it, of course I’ll finish right? Except that the drop out rate is very high and I can 100% see why! I’m determined to stick it out though.
Goals I’ve made progress on
14. Visit 5 cities
I’m only counting new-to-me cities, but so far I’m on 4 out of 5, mostly thanks to holidays since the list began. Prague, Galle (Sri Lanka), Singapore and Ubud (Bali)
Goals I need to track better…
Honestly, there are a few that I’ve definitely made progress on (if not completed!) but not tracked well enough. I’ll be properly counting these again from now on and will add on any I know for sure!
