Binge Watching: April 2019

What I’ve Been Watching

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

In six words or less: Dark retelling of classic 90s show.

Why I’m watching it: We were looking for something new on Netflix and although we’d heard pretty poor things about this, we were both intrigued, especially since I’ve read the first few comics and know that maybe there’ll one day be a link with Riverdale.

Current feelings: We went in with low expectations but this has been okay so far, pretty much exactly what we expected and perfect on-in-the-background-while-I-blog TV!

Where I’ve got to so far: Just finished episode 14.

The Umbrella Academy

In six words or less: Dysfunctional family of teens with superpowers.

Why I’m watching it: My sister recommended this to us, and as we’re both fans of superhero shows we decided to give it a go. We figured the fact that Ellen Page was in must be a good sign.

Current feelings: I like sci fi but hate time travel so some of this made my brain hurt but I actually really enjoyed it. Was frustrated by the ending though – I want more!

Where I’ve got to so far: Up to date.

Game of Thrones

In six words or less: Who will win the iron throne?!

Why I’m watching it: We’ve been watching this since day 1 and reading the books for a little longer than that so I’m so excited we’re finally at the last season!

Current feelings: Great fun to watch but a bit predictable and it isn’t paying off on all those theories and hints that have been building up… I’m beginning to worry this won’t live up to all the build up!

Where I’ve got to so far: Up to date.

Riverdale

In six words or less: Small town, big secrets, teen detectives.

Current feelings: Honestly, I loved the start of this series, the dark is-it-supernatural vibe, but it’s just going on a bit too long now. I want answers!

Where I’ve got to so far: Up to date.

Line of Duty

In six words or less: Anti-corruption teams investigate potentially bent cops

Why I’m watching it: This came highly recommended, and last time, that happened (The Bodyguard) we really enjoyed it.

Current feelings: It’s pretty addictive, and I love that it’s short series. I imagine we’ll be up to date pretty soon.

Where I’ve got to so far: Part way through series 3.

Binge-stats:

Total watch time so far:

TV: 96 days, 7 hours, 47 minutes
Film: 9 days, 8 hours, 22 minutes

Watch list Percentage: 69% (-1%)

Remaining watch list time: 17 days, 23 hours, 26 minutes (previously 15 days, 18hrs, 51 mins)

What’s up next?

Our immediate binge choice will be Line of Duty, but after that I’m not sure what’s up next – maybe the rest of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I’m not sure about my individual TV choice – I’ve not made any progress on How to Get Away with Murder or Once Upon a Time since February, so I’m clearly not hooked on either! I’m watching Grey’s Anatomy but that’s only one episode a week, so I might need something extra too. Any suggestions?!
