Looking Ahead: October 2016

What’s on in October?

Blog Ahead 2016-Oct
Well, September was a bit of a disastrous month in terms of reading and blogging so for October I’m taking a step back.  Throughout October I’ll be on semi-hiatus, posting only very occasionally, and instead taking part in Blog Ahead so that hopefully I can still get some Sci-fi month posts up despite NaNoWriMo craziness (because I apparently have ALL OF THE THINGS on in November!).

October’s TBR list

Indulgence in Death | Borrowed
The Rose Cord | Purchased
Three Dark Crowns
| Review Copy
The Final Empire | Purchased

Given how poor my reading was last month, I’m trying to keep my TBR list for this month reasonably small.  I’ve started both The Rose Cord and The Final Empire already so I’m hoping to get those finished this month.  Indulgence In Death is the next J. D. Robb I need, and I find they’re great for mixing things up now and again.  I’m not sure whether I’ll get to Three Dark Crowns this month, or whether I’ll fancy it, but I’ve put it on the list just in case.

October’s Listening Plans

Well last month I had hoped to listen to Fear The Sky which I just never really clicked with. This month I’m going back to a tried and tested audiobook success, and listening to the next Dresden Files audiobook instead.

October’s Manga & Graphic Novel Plans

Cardcaptor Sakura Volumes #6-10
Yu-Gi-Oh Volume #1
Attack on Titan #1
Monstress

I didn’t read any of the manga or graphic novels I’d had planned for September so I’m aiming for the same titles as last month!

October’s Watch List

On TV at the moment:
– Nashville
– The Great British Bake Off

Catching up with:
– Grey’s Anatomy
– Avatar
– Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
– Once Upon a Time
– Pretty Little Liars

Goals for September

  • Lose 4lbs
  • Keep working on NaNoWriMo prep
  • At least 15 posts scheduled by the end of the month (I’m aiming for 30 but I’d be okay with 15)
  • 8+ workouts (of any kind except walking)

What do you have planned for October?

Monday plans (#35)

This is my first time taking part in Monday plans for ages (since May!), so I obviously didn’t have any reading plans for last week.   I’m hoping making plans for next week means I might be slightly more determined to find time to read even though things are busy.

Last week

Aside from working, I didn’t honestly do much last week, so I got a fair amount read. I also started playing around with different things to put in my filofax again!  As you can see, I’m still adapting to the Dodo Pad and my new boring routine – now that I have the same schedule every day, I’ve not quite figured out how to use the 5 boxes best.

This week I used one for things to remember, one for hours worked (useful for filling in my timesheet at the end of the month) and one for counting down until my next time seeing my other half (the joys of long distance).  This week I’ll continue playing around and hopefully have some more boxes filled in next Monday!

What I read last week:

This week

Although I got quite a lot read last week, I’m off to visit my other half at uni this weekend (yay!), which will probably mean less reading. I’ve ordered Altered and am hoping to get that started on the train, but I doubt I’ll get much reading done while I’m actually away as it’ll be my first chance to meet his housemates etc.

Monday plans (#34)

As it was Bout of Books last week, I got a reasonable amount done, though not as much as I would if it wasn’t exam time!  My final (!) university exam is a week from tomorrow, so I’m expecting very little reading this week, basically just very small amounts in the evenings to switch off before bed.  I’m not going to stress about it, I’m just going to read what I can, and look forward to getting lots more done when the exam is over!

Monday plans (#33)

I got quite a lot read last week, but didn’t get anywhere near as far as I wanted with Icons – I’m not sure why but I’m just not getting sucked in by it (yet at least).

I’m hoping to get a reasonable amount done this week since it’s Bout of Books, and I’ll be reading mostly review books to tie in with the Clean Sweep ARC challenge.  Having said that, I do have to do a lot of revision too, so I’m not setting my goals too high. I’m aiming for at least 7 hours reading throughout the week.

Plan for last week:

  • Review pile: Continue The Forgotten Ones (Target: 100% | Actual: 100%)
  • Review pile: Continue Icons (Target: 100%| Actual: 45%)
  • Review pile: Start Love Rehab (Target: 100% | Actual: 100%)
  • Review pile: Start To Seek a Master (Target: 100% | Actual: 100%)
  • Unplanned: Existence (No Target | Actual: 100%)

Monday plans (#32)

So I got very little read this week, as predicted due to the last few days of term before exams.  Hoping to get LOTS read this week since I’m currently very behind on a team challenge.  I’m going home for a few days for an interview though, so I’m not sure if that’ll help or hinder my reading!

I also haven’t actually completed anything for the Clean Sweep ARC challenge (though I’ve started several), so I’d like to make some progress on that this week too.
Plan for last week:

  • Review pile: Continue The Forgotten Ones (Target: 75% | Actual: 37%)
  • Review pile: Start Icons (Target: 25%| Actual: 27%)
  • Review pile: Start Chantress (Target: 25% | Actual: Not Started)
