What I’m packing: Bathroom Edition

It can be really hard to figure out what to pack for uni or college, so these blog posts are designed to give you a hand. This is what I’ll be packing, feel free to edit the list to suit you, or suggest items you think I’ve missed in the comments.

Bathroom items are supposed to be some of the easiest to pack – you just pack what you use everyday right? But what if you don’t currently use a product but would like to? And how do you remember things you don’t use everyday but will eventually need, like nail clippers?  This post is here to help!

Part 1. Skin Care

Essential

  • Face wash,
  • Cleanser,
  • Toner,
  • Moisturizer,

I’ll be taking The Body Shop’s seaweed range for this, because I know my skin gets along with that fine.  If you don’t already have a skin care range you like, it’s worth popping into somewhere like The Body Shop or a Clinique stall or somewhere like that, to discuss the skin type you have and the type of products you would need.  You can always just look for those features in cheaper shops if you want to!

If you don’t already have a skin care routine on the go but you’d like to, I’d strongly recommend starting to use your stuff before you get to school.  Firstly because, I know for my skin at least, it got worse before it got better.  Secondly, because if the first time you use your stuff it’s trying to fight the effects of alcohol/pizza/general fresher’s week issues, it doesn’t have the best chance to impress you!

Bonus

  • A spot cream/pen
  • Face mask
  • Facial exfoliator

I have a face mask and an exfoliator purely because I got them on a deal with the rest of my body shop stuff, and I’ll be honest, I basically never use the mask.  I use the exfoliator when I remember, which is maybe once a week at a push!

A spot pen is good for those days when, for whatever reason, your regular skin care routine just isn’t cutting it.  Whip the spot pen over it for a few days, and it’ll go down a lot quicker.  I know for me, that’s usually whenever there’s been pizza – cheese always makes my skin bad, and although my CTM routine will improve it eventually, sometimes you just need a quicker improvement!  I’ve used this one from superdrug for years now. It used to be a roll on and now is a gel, but the ingredients seem the same and it still works for me!


Part 2. Shower time

Essential

  • Shower Gel/Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Shower puff or equivalent

I bought The Body Shop’s passion fruit range in their Christmas sale and loved it, but it’s just too expensive for me.  Instead, I’ve bought the N-spa passion fruit & mango range from asda. I bought the passion fruit shower gel & moisturizer as well as the mango shower gel & body butter, and it cost me £8 for all of it.  I’m taking Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo and conditioner.

Bonus

  • Moisturizer/Body butter
  • Exfoliator or exfoliating glove
  • Deep conditioning treatment/Leave in Conditioner

If you plan to use a lot of heat treatment on your hair/have it dyed and bleached, it might be worth using a deep conditioner or a leave in one.  I’ve been trying to find the right one for me at the moment, and I’m currently using the John Frieda full repair one but I’m not sure I love it enough for the price tag.

Part 3. Everything else

  • Flannels
  • Cotton wool/Cotton pads
  • Ear buds
  • Nail clippers
  • Shaving/waxing/other hair removal products
  • Tampons/Sanitary pads
  • Painkillers
  • Contraception & any other medication
  • Heat protective spray (for use with straighteners etc)
  • Hair brush/Comb
  • Hair bands/elastics/clips

Not everyone will need all of these, so just pick the ones you do need 🙂
