This Friday’s Feature & Follow question (hosted by Parajunkee’s View and Alison Can Read) is:
Q:What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?
There are two big deal breakers for me.
1. Poor main characters – there’s a fine line between ‘slightly flawed’ and downright irritating – I know you want your characters to seem human, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have SOME redeeming features.
2. Forced-seeming relationships – you know the ones, where someone is in love with a character and you can’t understand why, or where there’s a really sudden change from maybe-there’s-something-there to “we’re soulmates”.
i agree with you about main characters. you should at least LIKE the main character not feel super sorry for him/her!
trish – my follow friday
Bad editing is definitely a deal breaker. I’ve run across books that everyone is raving about and yet I can’t get past the first chapter because the editing is so bad. Also, I’m sick of virgins. If I have to read about another virgin (that’s not young adult) I’m gonna scream. Ditto in the happy endings that wrap up all neat. A little reality goes a long way with me.

Completely agree with both your points up there! Especially the 2nd one, I hate underdeveloped love (maybe) even more than underdeveloped characters!
Thanks for stopping by and following my blog, I’ve returned the favor 🙂

Totally agree with both points. Definitely annoying and stuff I don’t really want to encounter. THanks for stopping by and following. Following you back via Linky!
