Read Play Blog (#2): Gaming merchandise

Read Play Blog is a meme about video games and books, posted every 16th of the month. Bloggers are encouraged to answer a discussion question, and recommend a video game that is similar to a book they liked. Hosted by Happy Indulgence & Read Me Away.

April’s theme: Do you own any gaming merchandise? Show them off, or tell us what merch you would most love to have!

I don’t think I own any gaming merchandise, aside from a few Pokemon tees.  There are PLENTY of gaming related things on my wishlist though…

Gym tops

I admit, I am probably one of the most unfit people in the country – seriously, 30 seconds of jogging and I’m dead! – but I’ve been making an effort recently to try and get healthier.  I’d love to treat myself to some fun tops for exercise, as a boost (and also because I don’t feel like myself if I’m not wearing SOMETHING geeky).  LookHuman, who make all of the tops above, have some brilliant tops, but I think I’m just going to invest in some cheap plain tops and some fabric pens, because if I order the LookHuman ones they’ll take all year to get here, and I’d have to pay for customs etc.  I love browsing for inspiration though, and I really love these gaming designs!

Home decor

We’re staying with family this year (and probably next year too), but we have two rooms to ourselves; the bedroom and the spare room. The spare room just has a sofa bed, our TV and games consoles, so it’s pretty much just our movie & gaming space.  I’d like to redecorate it so it’s a bit more ‘us’, but I also don’t want to spend a fortune on it, or go TOO overboard and have it look like a thirteen year old boy’s room!  The above aren’t all sensible ideas (for one thing, we’d need a huge room for that controller decal!), but I really like them.  How cute would the Player One and Player Two decals be above our respective seats on the sofa?! Especially with some cute cushions too 🙂 While decorating isn’t top priority at the moment, all of the above are on my Pinterest inspiration board!

This is, without doubt, where I’m most likely to spend money.  I have a weakness for geeky jewellery, for adding a bit more geek even on days when I can’t get away with a fandom t-shirt!  A cheap, small way to add some nerdy fun to my day is just something I’m hopeless at resisting!

Currently Playing

I’m currently playing through Lego Marvel (though I admit I reall haven’t got very far yet!), which I’m really loving, and I’m especially appreciating that Matt and I can play together!

What gaming things are on your wishlist?!

  1. Well, it’s a good thing we don’t live in the same country, otherwise you’d have some competition in the ”most unfit person in the country” award. I suck at jogging, walking too fast, whatever! I can build up an endurance when I’m good, but then I get lazy again and it all goes down the drain LOL! I LOVE the level up tank, the player 1/player 2 pillows and the mushroom and Pokeball earrings^^

    1. Haha I don’t believe that! Even when I’ve been good and put in weeks (genuinely weeks!) of effort, I think my maximum jogging endurance time has been three minutes. I know, it’s pathetic!

I know, I want to buy the things in this post so much! The Pokeball earrings are the most likely to get bought (at least any time soon) as they’re only £4.99, which is hard to resist!
