Series Snapshots

Series Snapshots (#1): A cry for help!

Like a lot of book bloggers, I occasionally feel overwhelmed by the number of series I plan to start/have to catch up on/am waiting to continue.  While I adore reading series, I know that I’ll probably never be able to read all the series that I want to (and also keep up with all the ones yet to be added to my TBR) – and sometimes I don’t know where to start on catching up or culling things off the list!

Series Snapshots is a new feature here on the blog where I’ll be trying to address that, by picking a bunch of books with the same status (Unstarted series/Series I need to catch up on etc), and asking for your opinions on which I should pick up/which I should ditch.

For this first batch, I’ve picked 5 series that I own the first book from but haven’t started, despite the fact they’ve been on my TBR list for what feels like forever. They all sound interesting, and I’ve heard great things about a lot of them (particularly Patrick Ness, Libba Bray and Maggie Stiefvater) but none of them are yelling read me right now!, which means they’ll sit on my shelves for months more unless I do something about it!

I’ll be keeping the poll open for a week, and you can select up to three books to vote for (because sometimes choosing between books is like choosing between pets).  Whichever book wins will be added to June’s TBR pile to finally get started!

Which series should I start first?

  • Chaos Walking (Patrick Ness) (56%, 5 Votes)
  • The Raven Cycle (Maggie Stiefvater) (22%, 2 Votes)
  • Firebird (Claudia Gray) (11%, 1 Votes)
  • The Winner's Curse (Marie Rutkoski) (11%, 1 Votes)
  • The Diviners (Libba Bray) (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 7

    1. Thanks Bieke 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed The Rest of Us just live here – I’ve heard great things about it, and in fact about Patrick Ness in general. Unfortunately books on my shelves often get passed up for books that are coming out soon/sequels I’ve been dying to read/something new by an old favourite author etc, so I thought this would be a way to remind me to look over my shelves every now and again and force me to narrow down that TBR pile!

  1. Woot! I love this new feature idea Faith^^ Obviously, I *had* to vote for The Raven Boys because OMG THAT series. That series is now among my top favorite series of ALL time (along with Harry Potter, Throne of Glass and Stormlight Archive) so…let’s just say I have lots of feelings about the series! On the other hand, The Diviners and The Winner’s Curse are two books I own and that I’ve also been meaning to start asap, so I see your need to get those going. And tbh I also want to read The Knife of Never Letting Go and A Thousand Pieces of You. XD Good luck picking a winner!!

    1. Haha thanks Micheline! I had a small suspicion you’d go for The Raven Boys 😉 In terms of the feature, I just figured, we’re part of a HUGE community of people – why not use their input?! Obviously, just because other people love or hate a series doesn’t mean I’ll feel the same way, but I thought it’d be a good way to kick-start me into picking them up and FINDING OUT! Otherwise, I’ll keep looking at them, I’ll keep thinking “I should read this soon….but it’s not calling out to me right now the way [insert current book I fancy here] is”, and I’ll keep putting them off, when they could be a new favourite just waiting to be read 😉
