A bit late with this month’s wrap-up thanks to finishing up and handing in my dissertation and then taking a few days just away from the laptop!
I’ve had a pretty pathetic month reading wise – it looks reasonable here, but both The King and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were mostly complete before August got here (in fact, I can’t even remember if I finished HP7 during July or August but it wasn’t in the July wrap-up so I’m putting it here!). The Scorch Trials got started after seeing The Maze Runner film one night – the first book hadn’t left me desperate to continue the series, but with things fresh in my mind having seen the film, I figured it was as good a time as any to try. Plus, it has REALLY short chapters so it worked really well for brief breaks from dissertation. The King was a guilty pleasure break-from-dissertation read too.
Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows | The Scorch Trials | The King
Books read: 4 (3 less than July)
Pages read: 1570 (2013 less than July)
Average pages per day: 52 (64 less than July)
Favourite: Probably The King – obviously I LOVED my HP7 re-read but The King was a first-time read.
I think I only went to the cinema once this month – to see Inside Out, which I enjoyed but wasn’t as wowed by as I expected. I’ve seen a fair few films at home, though we’ve had pretty poor luck this month. The best was probably The Maze Runner, which I think I enjoyed more than the book, but I also saw Interstellar & Ex Machina, both of which I had very mixed feelings about, and rewatched Guardians of the Galaxy (adore!), Big Hero 6 (also adore!) and The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies (which was good, but better the first time).
In terms of TV, we finished Daredevil, started The 100 season 1 and have been watching The Great British Bake Off, all of which are good. Podcast-wise, Matt and I listened to Hunt The Truth, which made me want to play Halo even though I’m terrible at that sort of game… We’ve also been listening to the audiobook of The Martian, which I’ve read before but am really enjoying listening to as well (probably no surprise given how much I loved it when I read it the first time!)

No idea where I’m at with Reading Challenges at this point – it’ll be one of my things to work out in September!
