Fandom Mashups is a great feature hosted by Micheline. Every week, a unique fictional scenario is proposed, and everyone then builds their personal dream team of five fictional characters from five different fandoms to complete the task! This week: ZOMBIES! The dead have risen and are trying to take over the land of the living! Who do you want to help you send them back to where they came from?
Okay, so, if I’m being 100% honest, about the only things I have semi-regular nightmares about are zombies and dinosaurs. Why those two, I’ve no idea, but anyways, safe to say I find zombies terrifying. I’ve successfully read (and loved!) some zombie books – The Girl with all the gifts & Mira Grant’s Newsflesh trilogy immediately spring to mind – but I don’t think I have ever successfully watched a zombie film or played a zombie game. Shaun of The Dead? Sat through half, played on my phone… Zombieland? Laugh out loud funny intro but too gruesome. In an attempt to try and reduce my wimpiness, I watched the first episode of The Walking Dead about a month ago – I’m just too much of a wimp (and I’m hopeless with gore!). But anyway, I’ve given my zombie team some serious thought because I know for a fact I would be totally useless, and here’s who I’ve come up with…
Dumbledore fighting the Inferi is one of the most epic scenes ever, and I’d really really want his spellcasting ability on my side. Plus, hopefully he could figure out a magical way to send the zombies back to wherever they came from, which would be great. I thought about picking a doctor who could find a medical cure but frankly, I just don’t believe we’d have time for that, so magic it is. Plus, if we found a hideout, he could magically reinforce or help to hide it.
2. Daenarys & Drogon
Admittedly, I actually really want Drogon on my side here (fire-breathing and the ability to fly away both seem key in a zombie war) but Daenarys has to be included by default because there’s no way Drogon wouldn’t just eat me instantly.
3. Tony Stark
Tony Stark may not seem like an obvious choice, but I’m basically relying on his survival instinct & his excessive wealth – if anyone could find us a jet/a private non-infested island, Tony Stark seems like the man.
Okay, again, not an obvious choice, but bear with me – my thinking is, firstly he has water cannons, which he could blast the zombies with. But secondly, he could make water for us to drink, so if things were going really badly, Tony could find us somewhere isolated to hide, Dumbledore could help hide/reinforce it, with Drogon & Buffy protecting it and Blastoise producing water so we don’t have to leave our reinforced safe zone!
5. Buffy Summers
So in terms of fighting firepower (no pun intended), I’ve got a wizard and a dragon. Both great, but it’d be nice to have some non-magical back up too, on the off-chance zombies happen to be immune to magic or something (that seems like just my kind of luck). Buffy can obviously kick-ass without a weapon, but the advantage of picking a character who lives in the real world is that she could also totally use a gun, and she has a stockpile of weaponry that would be very comforting.
