Top Ten Tuesday (#81): Ten Of The Best Books I’ve Read Recently

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted at The Broke and The Bookish where they post a list idea and everyone is welcome to post the list with their own answers. This week’s theme is “Ten Of The Best Books I’ve Read Recently”.  I’ve picked the ten best books I’ve read over the last six months, so in no particular order…

Morning Star

I loved Red Rising & Golden Son, so I had high hopes for Morning Star.  Thankfully, it lived up to those hopes, and I thought it was a truly amazing end to the trilogy.

The Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy

I FINALLY got around to reading this series this year, and I’m not sure why I waited so long – I loved the writing, the world building and the characters.  Daughter of Smoke and Bone had me hooked pretty much straight away, so I couldn’t wait to read the rest of the series, and although very different, I really enjoyed all three.

Queen of Shadows

There hasn’t been a book in the series I haven’t loved yet, and each book manages to feel more epic than the last.  Queen of Shadows meant more Manon and the Thirteen which I loved, plus Lysandra quickly became a new favourite character too.

Fool’s Quest

Fool’s Quest was amazing – it had an extra something I felt was missing in the previous book.  The writing, the characters, the plot, everything about this book worked for me, and I’m gutted there’s such a long wait before the next book.

Night Study

Picking up a Maria V. Snyder book always feels like meeting up with old friends, and Night Study was no different -I loved returning to characters we already know and love, and the story was addictive, so it was definitely one of the best books I’ve read recently.

The Raven Boys/The Dream Thieves/Blue Lily, Lily Blue

I finally gave in and started The Raven Boys, mostly because I knew how much Micheline loved it, and it did not disappoint!  I loved the books SO much more than I thought I would, and I’ve already preordered The Raven King, because I can’t wait to see how it ends.

What amazing books have you read and loved recently?

  1. Words honestly cannot express how happy it makes me that you LOVED The Raven Cycle as much as I did 😀 Especially that you loved them even MORE than you expected!! I have The Raven King pre-ordered too so we’ll have to have to chat once we start and/or after we finish. We might need to form a support group LOL! Blue Lily, Lily Blue and Queen of Shadows made my list this week too ♥ -no big surprise there XD DoS&B would have too if I’d read them this year! And Red Rising and the Study books are coming up soon for me!
