My Week

I’ve now moved nearly everything I need for the next year into my other half’s place, I’ve got my timetable for my first week at uni, and I’ve been generally doing various productive things.  We also met up with a few friends from school for dinner and Matt and I took an impromptu date to the zoo.  I start my course on Monday which I’m very nervous about but hopefully it’ll be great!  That means I’ll have a lot less free time from now on (though I’m hoping I can settle into a routine reasonably quickly), so I’m not sure how much blogging/reading will get done.  It does mean though I can begin my audiobook experiment in earnest, and I’ll be starting with Beauty Queens which I borrowed from the library.  I’ve listened to a little already, and I think I should be able to get the whole thing done as part of my commute this week if it turns out me and audiobooks get along – wish me luck!

My Week

So I missed the recap for last week as I was away for the weekend, but I didn’t have anything exciting to report anyways! This week was my last week at work so I’ve had a crazy week trying to get things done before I finished.  Matt came home from his Masters at last this week, so I’ve got a little time off with him to chill out, catch up and also do lots of preparation before my course starts.

Haven’t been up to too much else this week really except Bloggiesta, which started on Thursday and I’ve made pretty good progress on.  I haven’t finished everything, but I don’t mind carrying a few of my goals over to keep working on after Bloggiesta finishes.

This is a kind of insane haul, but I didn’t post last week, so this is actually a two week haul rather than one. Plus Christmas did fall in the middle!  I’ve got a little left to spend on a kindle voucher, so I’ll have a few more to come, but I’m still deciding so those will have to be featured next week.

I didn’t post very much this week since I’ve just been relaxing and enjoying Christmas! All I posted this week was:

Did you get any great books for Christmas this year? Or anything you’re keen to pick up now the sales are starting?

This week I only got a few books, and they’re all from the library so I don’t feel too guilty!  I reserved Deadline pretty much as soon as I finished Feed because I LOVED Feed so much!  Shadow was free on my library’s ebook collection, and so I decided to take my first delve into the ebook library with it.

My library are running a lucky dip shelf over Christmas – pick up a gift wrapped book, take it out, and open it up when you get home to see what you’ve got!  The motivation behind the shelf is that people can’t be put off a title by the cover.  I don’t think I’m guilty of that, but I am guilty of going for the books I know are on my goodreads shelves, rather than browsing for things I’ve never heard of!  I figured it was worth a go, because if I really wasn’t interested in the books I could always bring them back!  I got Waiting for Sunrise and The Time of Singing which  both sound okay, but I don’t know whether I’ll get around to them since I know I have some great titles at the moment!

Oh dear! As some of you may have seen on twitter, I went in for minor surgery this week, and so I’ve had a lot of free time for book browsing online…This led to me requesting books on NetGalley for the first time in AGES, since I’ve specifically not been requesting more until I improve my terrible review percentage….Unfortunately, I went a bit crazy on my first time logging back in this week, so I gained a few more books than I should have!

NetGalley

Heartbeat
Pawn
Defy
The Last Savanna
Five Golden Rings
Beg

Kindle Freebies

Club Shadowlands
The Silver Chain
Dollhouse
Tempted by Fire
